Yangqing (Sam) was born and raised in Chongqing — a city known for its fiery hotpot, bold spirit, and warm-hearted people. Growing up in this vibrant land shaped her fearless, curious, and passionate character. From the age of six, she began training in Latin dance, later winning multiple awards in the Chongqing Global Youth Ballroom Dance Championships. That early discipline and love of rhythm taught her how to balance confidence and grace — qualities that continue to define her work in law.
Yangqing earned her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B., equivalent to a J.D.) from Southwest University of Political Science and Law in China, where she became a qualified Chinese lawyer. She continued her studies at the University of Hong Kong, focusing on commercial contract law, corporate governance, and shareholder remedies in common law systems.
She is a full scholarship recipient at SMU Dedman School of Law, pursuing her LL.M. in US law. Her academic and professional journey — spanning China, Hong Kong, and the United States — gives her a truly comparative perspective, bridging different legal traditions with cultural understanding. She later received her LL.M. in U.S. Law from SMU Dedman School of Law as a full scholarship recipient.
Yangqing’s professional experience ranges from litigation and in-house counsel work in Beijing to corporate compliance in Dallas. She believes that a lawyer’s role is not just to argue or react, but to anticipate risks, solve problems before they happen, and help businesses grow responsibly.
